Responding to the USCCB's call for two weeks of prayer, fasting, education, and service for the common good
2014: Freedom to Serve
Catholic parishes, schools, hospitals and social service organizations surround us. These institutions share a single identity and mission, which directly and selflessly serves Catholics and others. It is part and parcel of this Catholic identity that we intentionally engage in works of mercy, without which our faith is dead (James 2:17). History provides ample evidence that generations of Catholic Americans have faithfully discharged the vocation to serve others, but that trend is in jeopardy in the United States in the twenty-first century. Catholic identity must be protected! During the Fortnight for Freedom, our parish will answer the clarion call to engage in prayer, study and acts of loving service. By this, we hope to affirm of our Catholic identity and beg God’s graces against further encroachment.
